POSTJUDGMENT MODIFICATIONS

Once your divorce is complete, everyone’s life will move forward. As a result, circumstances that led to your initial child support, spousal support, or child custody arrangements may change. When these changes occur, I can help you pursue a modification to one or all of these orders.

Changes to Child Support

The court may make changes to the child support agreement if either parent’s financial circumstances change significantly. For example, if the parent who pays support receives a raise, child support may increase.

Modifications to Child Custody

When any change occurs that could impact your child’s well being, the child custody and visitation schedule can be modified by the court. Examples of situations that may lead to a modification include:

  • Problems at home or school
  • Child abuse or neglect
  • Parental drug use
  • Proposed relocations of either parent

Changes to Spousal Support

Modifications of spousal support can be made any time there is a change in the financial circumstances of either party. For example, if the recipient gets a substantial raise, spousal support may be decreased or discontinued.

Enforcement

If your ex is not abiding by the terms of any court order, the court can enforce it. I am happy to help with this process.
